News Years Resolutions
As we move towards the New Year, it is time to start thinking about what we will do in 2010. If you are like most people, you will have a list of things you want to accomplish in the new year and many of them will be related to your health. When you make your list, just make sure you are realistic. Set yourself up with goals that you can reach and give yourself some room succeed when tough times come.
One of the things that can help you reach your goals is to leave yourself a day of the week where you don’t have to do whatever it is you are trying to do. If your goal is to exercise more, make sure you plan on a day of rest. If you are going to eat a healthy diet, make sure you leave yourself a day where you can eat unhealthy food.
Another thing that can help you reach your goals is to give yourself a reward when you reach certain milestones. If you are trying to lose 30 pounds, make sure you celebrate when you lose 10 pounds then again when you lose 20 pounds. And when you lose 30, go nuts and party!
The last part about resolutions is to make new ones when you reach your goal. If your goal was to lose 30 pounds, make a new goal of losing 5 more pounds or getting six pack abs. Just keep moving forward.
Now go enjoy the holidays so you are well rested for the New Year and all the hard work you will do!
How about a Warm Cup of Green Tea
As we move into the Christmas season – yes I said Christmas. I sing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and not “We Wish You a Happy Holiday”. I am not going to sacrifice my beliefs for political correctness. Ok, enough the rant. I didn’t even finish my first sentence.
Ok, as we move into the Christmas season and really the winter season, isn’t it nice to snuggle up with a warm mug of something. I know hot chocolate is the traditional warm beverage, but this year, consider green tea as a super healthy replacement.
Green tea is the healthiest of teas and is high in antioxidants. It may even have a metabolism boosting effect.
With all the unhealthy choices we will all make during the holidays, wouldn’t it be nice to mix in a healthy drink every now and then.
We have several pages on the benefits of green tea and will be releasing a free report on green tea very soon. Head on over the the main site and check out green tea!
Black Friday
Today is called Black Friday here in the US. It is the day after Thanksgiving which officially kicks off the Christmas season. If you are thinking about health, yesterday started a 5 week stretch of health destroying festivities.
The Holiday season, at least here in the US, is a time of joy, happiness, and lots and lots of food and parties. I saw something the other day that the average Thanksgiving meal consists of about 3,000 calories. Wow. As if that isn’t bad enough, we will spend the next 5 weeks having parties, eating Christmas cookies, fudge, and fruit cake, and snacking on high calorie holiday goodness.
It is no wonder that so many people gain weight during the Holidays then get sick. Our bodies just can’t handle all that crap.
I know you can’t escape some of the high calorie goodness, but if you can make some good choices in there, you will be much better off. Find some healthy snacks and habits you can still do during the holidays and you will minimize the damage. Me, I am going to try to drink lots of water and snack on something healthy like pistachios. I also plan to do a better job of taking the health supplements I take.
Hopefully this holiday season won’t come with an extra 5 pounds. Enjoy the season. Your health doesn’t have to be as black as Black Friday . . . lol.
