Anthony Morrison Scam

I don’t normally get into the conversations around different internet scams, but all the talk about the Anthony Morrison scam struck too close to home to ignore. I was talking to my Dad a couple days ago and he asked me if I had ever heard of Anthony Morrison. I have been around internet marketing for a lot of years and can honestly say I never heard of him. He then proceeded to tell me what he found online when he started searching the term Anthony Morrison Scam.

When you search the internet, it becomes apparent that there are a lot of people unhappy with him because there are 115,000 results when you Google the term Anthony Morrison Scam. This isn’t all that alarming because anybody in the public eye is going to have detractors. What is a bit alarming to me is the way people are being “scammed”. I want to start by telling you about my first internet marketing experience.

The year was 1998. I was fresh out of college and knew the internet was the way of the future. I don’t remember how I came across the product (it was probably an infomercial), but I signed up to get some sort of training. It was $20 or $30. After I signed up, I get multiple high pressure sales calls basically saying there was no way I could succeed on my own and I needed to buy a bunch of extra stuff. By the time it was all over, I had spent thousands of dollars on some package that never made me a penny and even had a merchant account and credit card processing machine I made lease payments on for 3 years. As you can imagine, this was a very negative experience for me and the accounts I read of the Anthony Morrison Scam are way to similar for my liking.

Now, fast forward to today and read some of the things being written about Anthony Morrison and you will see it is a very similar story. I personally have not had any dealings with Anthony, but it does appear he has been successful marketing and may have some good products. The problem I have is with the reported high pressure sales techniques and the promise that you “won’t make money unless you buy more stuff”. Online marketing is full of stories of people who made a lot of money without spending anything to get started so it is wrong to say it can’t be done. I do believe you should pay for high quality training, but only when you are ready and make the decision rationally. High pressure, cold calling salespeople really give all internet marketers a bad name.

If you want to get started with something completely free and see if internet marketing is for you, fill out the form on the right side near the top of the page and get a FREE copy of my book, 7 Days to Search Engine Success. There are a lot of free resources in that book. The only thing you really have to buy are a domain name for about $10 a year and hosting which is $8 to $10 a month and there are some good recommendations in the book on how to save money on these too. You can even get started just using the completely free resources listed in the book.
